An Introduction to Calligraphy

A practical historical craft workshop covers making a quill, grinding oak galls for medieval ink and learning calligraphy.

Participants make a quill from a goose feather and grind oak galls to make ink, then learn calligraphy. The session also discusses parchment-making and the work of scribes and illuminators. Suitable for ages 12+; tickets are non-refundable and booking is essential. Tea, coffee and homemade cake are included. Held at the Nest Tearoom in Carew Castle Walled Garden, with step-free access.
