Noura Mint Seymali
About
Mauritanian singer and ardin harp player Noura Mint Seymali performs her blend of griot tradition, psychedelic rock and Saharan grooves at Drygate for Celtic Connections.
Noura Mint Seymali brings the music of Mauritania to Glasgow as part of Celtic Connections 2027, fusing centuries-old Moorish griot traditions with psychedelic rock energy, Saharan grooves and contemporary global sounds. Her performances centre on soaring vocals, intricate rhythms and the ardin harp, with driving electric guitar lines from guitarist Jeiche Ould Chighaly, powerful call-and-response vocals and propulsive percussion. A WOMEX Artist Award recipient who has performed worldwide, she offers an evening moving between trance-like intensity and lyrical beauty.
