About
English National Ballet performs Rudolf Nureyev's Romeo & Juliet with Prokofiev's score played live at Mayflower Theatre.
English National Ballet brings Rudolf Nureyev's staging of Romeo & Juliet to Southampton, created nearly 50 years ago for Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee. Set in Renaissance Verona amid feuding Montagues and Capulets, the ballet follows the doomed young lovers through five performances over three days. The English National Ballet Philharmonic performs Prokofiev's score live, and the production runs approximately 2 hours 55 minutes with two intervals. Recommended for ages 10+, with warnings for themes of violence and suicide.
