Festive Embroidery Workshop: The Christmas Hedgehog
About
A 2.5-hour festive embroidery workshop making a felt Christmas hedgehog ornament inspired by a medieval bestiary illustration, led by Florencia Denti.
This hands-on workshop draws on medieval bestiaries, illustrated books of real and imaginary beasts, and takes its subject from a 13th-century Rochester Bestiary image of a hedgehog carrying fruit on its spines. Participants learn basic embroidery skills and stitch, decorate and assemble a felt hedgehog decoration to take home, hang on the tree or give as a gift. No previous embroidery experience is needed and all materials are provided; the session runs 2.5 hours and is recommended for ages 14+, with under-16s accompanied by an adult.
