Tree Ornament Workshop
About
A beginner-friendly corn dolly workshop where participants plait straw to make festive tree decorations and gifts.
A three-hour hands-on corn dolly workshop led by Sally Murdoch, one of the last remaining tutors of this endangered craft in the South of England. Participants learn basic straw weaves and make pieces such as glory braids, festive tokens, dragonflies, hearts or lantern pomanders with scented Saxon amulet beads, taking home at least two or three finished decorations with ribbons and charms provided. The session is beginner friendly and intended for adults, suitable for ages 16 and over, with time to explore the site's historic buildings.
