Hanna Tuulikki - Deer Dancer
About
Hanna Tuulikki's Deer Dancer is a cross-artform performance exploring our relationship with deer through dance, song and tragicomedy.
Five womxn performers take turns playing hybrid characters, gesturing, lip-syncing, dancing and singing between wild-deer-ness and performed male-ness. Hanna Tuulikki's work examines how imitating deer behaviour constructs ideas of wilderness and heroic masculinity, and how hunting mythologies affect vulnerable ecologies. Framed as a contemporary life-crisis ritual for a damaged planet, the performance runs from 7.30pm to approximately 9pm, with an optional Open House beforehand where audiences can watch performers transform into their characters. Recommended for ages 14+.
