SAA-uk performs Kala, a light-worn dance installation blending classical Indian and contemporary movement to explore 300 years of South Asian history in Leeds.
Kala is a performance installation by SAA-uk combining classical Indian and contemporary movement with music and body-worn light. The piece explores 300 years of South Asian history in Leeds, weaving narratives of cultural identity, migration, colonialism and resilience. Its soundtrack pairs violin with sampled sounds of Leeds. Each performance lasts around 10 minutes, with showings at 6.45pm, 7.15pm, 7.45pm, 8.15pm and 8.45pm across both evenings of Light Night Leeds.
