Glass Art Techniques
About
An 11-week evening course at Mary Ward Centre teaching glass decorating techniques including cutting, fusing and surface effects, open to all levels.
This 11-week course introduces techniques for decorating glass, including the basic principles of glass fusing, and is suitable for complete beginners as well as more experienced students. Beginners learn to cut straight lines and curves and complete simple briefs such as making a coaster and a pendant, while experienced students work on their own fused glass projects with tutor support. New techniques are introduced every two weeks, allowing time to test samples and then develop personal work, with sessions covering firing schedules, surface techniques such as glass decals, and other artists' work. Basic materials are provided, with extras available to buy in class; fired work is limited to 20cm x 20cm to fit the kiln.
