Mixed Media: Themes & Projects

A six-week mixed media art course at Mary Ward Centre Stratford where students of all levels develop experimental still-life work using collage, paint and print.

This project-based workshop runs over six Wednesday afternoon sessions and is open to beginners and more experienced artists alike. Working from still-life displays set up in the classroom, students use collaged papers and a range of drawing materials — graphite, paint, wax, bleach, glue and mono-printing — to layer depth, texture, tone and pattern into their work. The course references both historical and contemporary artworks and encourages a more experimental approach than a traditional drawing or painting class. Basic materials are provided, with some heavier papers available to buy in class at cost price.
