Contemporary Kintsugi Workshop with Amelia Bedson

A hands-on kintsugi workshop where participants break and repair a ceramic bowl with 22 carat gold leaf, learning the Japanese art of golden repair.

Led by professional restorer Amelia Bedson, this workshop teaches contemporary kintsugi, combining traditional Japanese repair techniques with modern methods. Participants receive a ceramic bowl and a toolbox of materials, learn to break it safely, then repair the pieces step by step, gilding the cracks with 22 carat gold leaf. The session also explores the history, craftsmanship and wabi-sabi philosophy behind the art, and runs from 10.15am to 3.30pm.
