The Jam Jar Presents: Lagos Thugs

Ten-piece Nigerian Afrobeat band Lagos Thugs bring their groove-driven, improvisation-heavy live show to The Jam Jar in Bristol.

Lagos Thugs are a ten-piece Afrobeat band from Lagos, Nigeria, formed in 2020 by multi-instrumentalist Adetunji Adeyemi. Rooted in the classic Afrobeat tradition, they blend heavy horn arrangements, deep polyrhythms and socially conscious themes with a modern edge. The band treats each show as a communal experience, with long, immersive sets built on groove, improvisation and call-and-response. Their music addresses power, injustice, freedom and African identity, and they have shared stages with acts including Ezra Collective, Seun Kuti and Antibalas.
