About

A three-hour embroidery workshop learning silk shading with long and short stitch to create realistic embroidered flowers.

This workshop introduces silk shading, a technique sometimes called 'painting with thread'. Tutor Hilary Underwood teaches the 'long and short stitch' so participants can embroider flowers that look as real as the flower itself. Attendees can follow provided designs or develop their own from pictures of a favourite flower. Participants should bring sharp scissors; all other materials are provided.
