Aberfan 60

A remembrance concert marking 60 years since the Aberfan disaster, featuring Paul Mealor's new requiem with choirs and the BBC National Chorus of Wales.

Marking 60 years since the Aberfan disaster, this concert centres on Paul Mealor's newly commissioned 'From Darkness into Light: a concert requiem for hope', performed with narrator Mark Lewis Jones, the Aberfan Schools Choirs, Ynysowen Male Voice Choir and the BBC National Chorus of Wales. The first half moves from urgency to hope with Anna Clyne's 'This Moment', the first movement of Haydn's 'Mourning' Symphony No. 44, the Andante cantabile from Mozart's 'Jupiter' Symphony, and Vaughan Williams' 'Toward the Unknown Region'. The concert begins at 3pm and includes an interval.
