The Piano Music of Béla Bartók
About
A Bartók mini-festival concert featuring Jeonghwan Kim (piano) with Songha Choi and Elena Veronesi in Bartók's piano and chamber works.
Pianist Jeonghwan Kim performs a programme of Bartók's piano music, including Out of Doors and the Piano Sonata, works the page describes as anticipating the harmonic and textural experimentation of the composer's three piano concertos, alongside the Dance Suite. Songha Choi (violin) and Elena Veronesi (clarinet) join for Contrasts, a 1938 work commissioned by Benny Goodman that juxtaposes Hungarian and Romanian folk dance material with hints of Jewish Klezmer. The concert forms part of a Béla Bartók Mini-Festival at the Jacqueline du Pré Music Building.
