Woodland and Willow Basket Making, Woods Mill
About
A complete-beginner willow basket-making course over two consecutive Saturdays at Woods Mill.
Work with green and brown willow and natural materials from woodland, downland, hedgerows and gardens. The two sessions include one-to-one support, advice on materials suitable for gathering, a possible short identification walk if weather permits, and woodland foraging. Learn French Randing and 3 Rod Whaling, then create a border and handle; if you finish a basket, the tutor can also support you to make a willow plant support or bird feeder. Bring secateurs, pliers, an old knitting needle, wooden clothes pegs, old clothes, a packed lunch, drinks, a notebook and pencil. Tea and coffee are provided. Some manual dexterity and strength are needed. The classroom and toilets are wheelchair accessible; free parking is available. This is an adult course. Sussex Wildlife Trust says members receive discounted prices on most courses and offers concessions to people who find standard rates out of reach, including seniors, students and people currently unemployed; no proof is required.
