Family Event: Bat Detecting at Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve
About
A family bat-detecting evening at Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve, with a hot drink and talk at the Visitor Centre followed by a guided walk in the dark using bat detectors.
Kent Wildlife Trust runs this family-friendly evening exploring the bats of Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve during Halloween season. The session begins in the Visitor Centre with a hot drink and an introduction to the bats found on the reserve at this time of year, the sounds they make, their preferred habitats, and how bat detectors work. The group then heads out after dark with bat detectors to walk footpaths through the best bat habitats, listening for different species. The walk lasts around one to one-and-a-half hours, takes place mostly outdoors in unlit, uneven terrain, and children must be accompanied by an adult.
