The Handover with support from Nick Jonah Davis
About
Egyptian-Belgian trio The Handover play psychedelic Arabic music at Bishops' House, with support from guitarist Nick Jonah Davis.
The Handover — Aly Eissa on oud, Jonas Cambien on keyboards and Ayman Asfour on violin — play a return Sheffield date blending classical Arabic music, urban shaabi and ritual melodies from Egypt's countryside with krautrock-like riffs and '60s avant-garde jazz intensity. The trio's 2025 debut album on Sublime Frequencies has drawn wide critical praise, and they have performed at festivals including Rewire, Counterflows and Jazzfest Berlin. Support comes from guitarist Nick Jonah Davis, whose playing draws on British folk, country blues and free improvisation.
