Simon Armitage - Gilgamesh: An Evening with the Poet Laureate

Poet Laureate Simon Armitage performs from and discusses his new verse translation of the ancient epic Gilgamesh at The Portobello Bookshop.

Simon Armitage, the current UK Poet Laureate, visits The Portobello Bookshop for an evening celebrating his latest work, Gilgamesh: A New Verse Translation. He will perform from his rendering of the nearly 4,000-year-old Mesopotamian epic, whose themes of power, loyalty, love and loss remain strikingly contemporary. The event runs for one hour, with in-person and livestream attendance options, some of which include a copy of the book or a voucher towards it.
