Charmaine Watkiss: From the ones who came before…

This exhibition showcases two new works by Charmaine Watkiss, exploring botanical legacy and African diaspora traditions.

The commission includes a watercolour drawing, 'Flash of the Spirit,' which features a double portrait of Watkiss alongside a nkisi from RAMM’s collection. The second piece is a mask, inspired by the Mukenga from Kuba in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and contains a pouch of dried medicinal herbs and a prayer.
