What do you collect? The Deaf Academy: Deaf technology through the ages

A museum display marking the Deaf Academy's 200th anniversary, tracing the evolution of hearing technology from ear trumpets to digital hearing aids.

The Deaf Academy, the oldest Deaf school in England, marks its 200th anniversary with a display in RAMM's 'What do you collect?' case. It showcases the evolution of hearing technology, from ear trumpets and speaking horns through electronic and transistor devices to digital and wireless hearing aids. A 200-year-old transfer-printed mug from RAMM's collection decorated with the BSL alphabet is also on show, with some items loaned by the Ewing Foundation and Oswestry Town Museum.
