Raging Sun, Raging Sky + Introduction (2009)
About
A screening of Julián Hernández's 2009 film Raging Sun, Raging Sky, introduced by season curator Nico Hughes.
The ICA screens Julián Hernández's 2009 Mexican film Raging Sun, Raging Sky (191 minutes, Spanish with English subtitles) as part of the Collective Visions of Pleasure season. The film follows Kieri, Ryo and Tari through the hidden spaces of cruising in a city where water links the everyday and the mythic, watched over by a spirit called the 'Heart of the Sky'. Alternating between black and white and colour, it evokes the poetic homoeroticism of Jean Genet's Song of Love, moving from sensuality and violence towards dreamlike, spiritual realms. The screening is introduced by season curator Nico Hughes, an MA student at the National Film and Television School.
