Rush Basket Making Workshop

A one-and-a-half-day workshop weaving baskets and mats from Somerset-grown rushes, suitable for beginners.

This one-and-a-half-day workshop teaches basket weaving with Schoenoplectus lacustris, the common bulrush, using rushes gathered from the Somerset Levels. Participants work with soft, greeny-gold rushes to complete a small basket and/or table mat to take home. Tutor Rebecca Board, who has over twenty years' experience, guides beginners through the weaves and techniques, with a maximum class size of six for individual attention.
