About
A talk on the publication history of William Adam's Vitruvius Scoticus, followed by a chance to view a first edition and HES archive material.
Frederick Alexander-Reid, Library and Search Room manager, recounts the publication history of Vitruvius Scoticus, William Adam's early 18th-century collection of drawings of Scottish country estates and public works such as Hopetoun House and the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. The talk covers sibling rivalries, near-misses and a struggle over familial legacy surrounding the book's publication. Afterwards attendees can view a first edition copy and original HES archive material in the search room setting.
