Stone in Scotland: Past, Present and Future
About
A learning session on Scotland's building stone, covering stone types, conservation best practice and procurement, with an optional walking tour.
Historic Environment Scotland hosts a learning session at the Engine Shed on stone, Scotland's preeminent building material. Four morning talks introduce the wide range of stone used in Scotland and current best practice in stone repairs, plus innovative methods of identifying and procuring new stone for conservation and newbuild projects. In-person full-day attendees also get a networking lunch and an afternoon walking tour of Stirling's Old Town discussing stone conservation issues; a virtual ticket covers the morning session on Microsoft Teams. The session counts towards CPD and is aimed at building, heritage professionals and anyone interested in traditional buildings.
