Artist’s Film Picks: Persepolis

A screening of Marjane Satrapi's animated film Persepolis, chosen by artist Autumn Knight to accompany her ICA exhibition I Can't Complain.

Programmed by Autumn Knight as part of her selection of three films accompanying her exhibition I Can't Complain, this screening presents Persepolis (2007, 96 min), directed by Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud. Knight describes the chosen films as entering a conversation about complaint infused with or masked by humour, with figures finding creative ways to address frustration and disappointment. Based on Satrapi's autobiographical graphic novel, Persepolis follows her childhood transformed by the Iranian Revolution, her teenage exile in Europe and her return to Iran. The screening takes place in Cinema 2, and the ticket includes free exhibition entry on the same day.
