Workshop: Spoon Carving in Autumn (BBC2806)
About
A day-long spoon carving workshop in the woods at Bradfield Woods with craftswoman Fay Jones, carving spoons and spatulas to take home.
Suffolk Wildlife Trust hosts a spoon carving workshop led by local craftswoman Fay Jones in the purpose-built craft area at Bradfield Woods, sheltered from the elements and with a fire. Participants begin by selecting and splitting wood, then carve a teaspoon or dessert spoon using knives and spoon knives; after lunch they use shave horses and drawknives to make a larger spoon or spatula. The session runs five and a half hours, with tea and coffee provided, and attendees should wear suitable outdoor clothing and stout footwear and bring a packed lunch and a mug.
