Workshop: Natural Dyes in Autumn (BBC2806)
About
A day-long workshop with Fay Jones at Bradfield Woods learning to dye with native tree barks, for complete beginners.
Suffolk Wildlife Trust hosts a six-hour workshop in the ancient woodland of Bradfield Woods, where craftswoman Fay Jones teaches dyeing with native tree barks. Participants explore the warm, earthy autumn hues hidden in the woods' trees and use them to dye test skeins and samplers, with simple braiding and tree twine making while the dye pots develop. Suitable for complete beginners, the day includes tea and coffee; attendees bring a packed lunch and dress for the weather. It is a sister course to the trust's 'Natural dyes in summer' workshop, which focuses on leaves.
