Academic Seminar – Prof. Gary Rendsburg – “Why the Dead Sea Scrolls Matter”

A free academic seminar in which Professor Gary Rendsburg discusses why the Dead Sea Scrolls matter for understanding early Judaism and Christianity.

Professor Gary Rendsburg of Rutgers University delivers an academic seminar on the significance of the Dead Sea Scrolls, discovered almost eighty years ago. He explores how the scrolls revolutionised the study of early Judaism and early Christianity, and how recent scholarship has highlighted the extent to which earliest Christianity was indebted to its Jewish roots. The seminar runs 2–3pm, with community worship at 12.30pm and a free lunch in the Manor house beforehand for those who register.
