Nyungnay Purifying Ritual Practice
About
An annual two-day Nyungnay fasting and prostration retreat with Gen-la Kelsang Jampa at Manjushri KMC over Buddha's Enlightenment Day.
This annual centre practice marks Buddha's Enlightenment Day with two days of Nyungnay, a purifying ritual wrapped within Mahayana Precepts. Participants make offerings, praises and prostrations to thousand-armed Avalokiteshvara using the sadhana 'Drop of Essential Nectar', with three sessions of prostrations each day and an optional full fast on the second day. The timetable includes an introductory session on the Tuesday evening, Mahayana Precepts each morning, precepts lunches, Wishfulfilling Jewel Pujas, a GP class with Gen-la Jampa, and an Offering to the Spiritual Guide Puja to close. Everyone is welcome and no prior experience of meditation or Buddhism is required.
