Writing Workshop: A Year on the Abyss of Genocide
About
Writer and poet Mahmoud Alshaer leads a workshop sharing the daily compositional method behind his books written in and about Gaza.
Part of day three of Arika's Episode 12: From the Rivers to the Seas, this workshop is led by writer and poet Mahmoud Alshaer, whose books I Am Still Alive and A Year on the Abyss of Genocide affirm everyday life in Gaza. Participants are invited to share in his compositional method: a daily practice asking what it means to write under different temporal regimes — the present, during the genocide, and during the occupation. The session takes place in Tramway Studio; content notes advise that attendees will be asked to write from lived experience.
