New College Festival – Karine Polwart featuring Dave Milligan
About
Karine Polwart discusses her multimedia work 'Windblown', with songs from pianist Dave Milligan, chaired by Roxani Krystalli.
Singer-songwriter Karine Polwart discusses 'Windblown' (Hudson Records, 2026), a multimedia publication combining story and music about a 200-year-old Sabal palm at Edinburgh's Royal Botanic Garden and its journey from Bermuda to Scotland. The work, created with Pippa Murphy and Dave Milligan, reflects on colonial legacy, ecological care, grief and resilience. With pianist Dave Milligan, Polwart will perform a couple of songs from the album during the conversation, chaired by Roxani Krystalli. The event lasts one hour and is part of the New College Festival of Books and Belief 2026.
