Make a Chopping Block and Develop Your Axe Carving Skills

A one-day greenwood course where participants hand-craft their own chopping block and learn safe axe carving technique.

This one-day course with Paul Williams Woodcraft teaches participants to make a chopping block from locally harvested timber, including carving and attaching legs, before spending the rest of the day learning safe axe technique on the finished block. The session runs from a woodland workshop in Ghyll Wood on the Wyresdale Park estate, using indoor and outdoor space depending on the weather, and finishes with advice on buying a carving axe. The event lasts six and a half hours and includes free parking.
