Deer Butchery & Saxon Cookery Workshop

An adults-only one-day workshop learning to skin and butcher a deer and cook a Saxon feast over an open fire at Butser Ancient Farm.

A one-day workshop (10am to 4pm with a lunch break) led by Craig Brooks, author of Eat Like a Viking!, teaching participants to skin and butcher a deer using traditional techniques. Attendees then cook a full meal over an open fire with authentic recipes, tools and techniques, and eat it in a Saxon hall. The deer are ethically and sustainably sourced, and the workshop is for ages 18 and over.
