Ghost Ship in the Fog

A family science activity investigates how light, fog, shadows and optical illusions could explain ghost-ship stories.

Families become Maritime Myth Busters and use torches, transparent materials, coloured filters and a simple fog chamber to experiment with light, mist and shadows. They can change the angle of the light and position of a model ship to create an optical illusion of a ghost ship emerging through fog.
