Naomi Beevers: A Distinctive Flock
About
An exhibition of Naomi Beevers's textile bird sculptures made from wool, cloth and repurposed household objects, shown at New Ashgate Gallery over the festive season.
New Ashgate Gallery presents Naomi Beevers as Sculptor in Focus for the festive season, showing a flock of bird sculptures inspired by Britain's garden, woodland and coastal species. The works are made from needle-felted British wool, painted fabric and hand stitching, with vintage cotton reels, sugar tongs and cake forks repurposed as perches, legs and feet. Drawing on childhood memories of Devon and Cornwall and wildlife near her Surrey home, Beevers combines close observation of birds with textile craft and a fondness for domestic history.
