Moxie: Simon

An exhibition display curated by Simon, a child participant in the Moxie project, showing his watercolour Kakaiba responding to a work in the Middlesbrough Collection.

Moxie: Simon is one of a set of displays in which children from Generation Alpha curate responses to works in the Middlesbrough Collection. Simon presents Kakaiba (2026), a watercolour on paper made in response to Julia Matcham's Roman Bridge (1975). Inspired by Matcham's whimsical style and reduced pink, blue and green palette, Simon developed a fantastical landscape of pink and purple trees, drawing on his Filipino heritage and the child-like artwork of Beabadoobee's album Beatopia.
