Moxie: Generation Alpha Curates the Middlesbrough Collection

Nine artworks from the Middlesbrough Collection, chosen and curated by young MIMA Saturday Club members and paired with their own creative responses.

Young people from the MIMA Saturday Club (aged 13–16) each explored the Middlesbrough Collection of over 2,300 works and selected a piece that resonated with their creative practice. The resulting display pairs the nine chosen artworks — drawings, oil paintings and prints by artists including John Armstrong, Charles Cundall, John Keane and David Shrigley — with new response works by each curator, accessible via QR codes. The exhibition celebrates the perspectives of the Tees Valley's Generation Alpha and is presented through the Turner on Tees programme for Turner Prize 2026.
