The Intelligence Below: New Ways of Listening to the Natural World
About
Sound artist Jason Singh gives a talk on new technologies for listening to the hidden sounds of the natural world.
Sound artist Jason Singh presents an artist talk exploring the hidden sounds, rhythms and intelligence of the natural world. He discusses how technologies such as sensitive microphones, field recording, biosonification and spatial audio can translate sounds beyond ordinary human perception into experiences we can hear. Drawing on projects made for organisations including RAMM, the National Trust, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the Bodleian Libraries, the BBC, the RHS, WOMAD and Milton Keynes International Festival, the talk asks what happens when we take the time to listen. The hour-long session invites audiences to consider how deeper listening might change our relationship with the living world.
