About
A free drop-in social at The Portico Library where new students in Manchester can meet others, take a mini tour and see historic illustrated books.
New students in Manchester are invited to drop in to The Portico Library, the city's second oldest library, to meet other new arrivals and explore the 200-year-old building. The session includes a mini tour and a chance to view historic books with striking illustrations, covering themes of Manchester in maps, extraordinary Renaissance creatures and 19th-century plant illustration. It is run by Portico staff who were once new students in the city themselves.
