Sculptural Forms in Plaster
About
A nine-week Thursday-morning sculpture course at Attenborough Arts Centre where participants design and build plaster forms over wire armatures.
This nine-week course, taught by sculptor Austin Orwin, explores what makes an interesting sculptural form, considering construction, visual weight, tension and surface pattern. After research into art history, participants design a form and build it in plaster over a wire armature support, with guidance on technique and working practice throughout. Finished pieces can be sealed and painted if desired. The course is suitable for all levels of experience, runs on Thursday mornings from 14 January to 11 March 2027, and is open to participants aged 16 and over.
