Thursday Sketchbook Sessions
About
A nine-week Thursday afternoon sketchbook course at Attenborough Arts Centre, taught by Austin Orwin, for beginners and returning sketchers aged 18+.
This nine-week course runs on Thursday afternoons from 14 January to 11 March 2027, offering 22.5 hours of studio contact time. Tutor Austin Orwin leads project-based sessions covering layout, composition and playful ways to distort perspective, using the built environment, nature and still-life objects as reference. Participants also spend time in the Attenborough Arts Centre galleries sketching, and learn how to start a sketchbook and overcome the fear of the blank page. The course suits newcomers and returning students alike; a sketchbook and all drawing materials are included in the fee, and participants must be aged 18 or over.
