Architects in the Garden – Sir Edwin Lutyens – GI 26 179

A lecture on Sir Edwin Lutyens's life and garden designs, including his long partnership with Gertrude Jekyll, at the Guildford Institute.

A 90-minute lecture on Sir Edwin Lutyens, described as probably the foremost Edwardian garden designer, whose formal, clean-lined residential garden style often mirrored the design of the house. The talk covers his life, including his boyhood split between London and Thursley in Surrey, and his garden designs. It also explores his mentorship by Gertrude Jekyll and their partnership of over forty years; there is no break during the lecture.
