Kurdish Carpet Weaving Workshop
About
A four-hour hands-on workshop with Shorsh Saleh teaching the basic techniques of kilim weaving at Cambridge Central Mosque.
Led by Shorsh Saleh, this workshop introduces the basic techniques of kilim weaving, the traditional flat-woven textile made by interlacing warp and weft threads. Participants explore how to translate a design into a woven textile, learning through hands-on practice how pattern, colour and structure interact in the weaving process. Each participant leaves with a finished woven piece and the fundamental skills to continue weaving independently. The session is open to all regardless of faith, is for ages 15+, and attendees are asked to arrive 15 minutes early as doors close shortly before the advertised start time.
