British Politics: Past, Present, Future
About
A six-week introductory evening course at Mary Ward Centre exploring British political institutions, power, debates and personalities, past and present.
This six-week course, taught by Christian Schnee, examines the institutions, debates and personalities shaping British politics, asking where power resides in the constitutional system and how current debates relate to democratic principles. Sessions mix short lectures with class discussion, covering elections, political parties, constitutional reform, domestic and international policy, and the UK's relationship with the EU. No previous political science knowledge is required, with short readings provided before each session.
