Sociological Myths and Mysteries of Global Affairs
About
A 12-week Thursday afternoon course at Mary Ward Centre exploring global affairs through sociology, postcolonial and decolonial perspectives.
This 12-week course offers an interdisciplinary exploration of global issues through sociology and international politics, introducing the myths, mysteries and historical social structures that underpin globalisation. Weekly topics range from history, race, colonialism and capitalism to nationalism, migration, money and knowledge, organised across five themes from 'Creating a World View' to 'Saving, or Destroying the World?'. Teaching combines tutor presentation, discussion, group activities and documentaries, with no formal assessment. No previous knowledge is needed, just an interest in global affairs.
