About

A free exhibition showing nearly 40,000 digitised portraits of Glasgow citizens taken by Cranhill Arts photographers between 1989 and 1993.

In 1989, 22 people from Cranhill Arts and the surrounding area became photographers, capturing nearly 40,000 portraits of fellow Glaswegians by 1993 in black and white and colour across the city. The photographs, taken at work, at school, in pubs, clubs and on the streets, form an insider portrait of Glasgow. Now digitised through a community-led, Heritage Lottery-funded project, this large-scale exhibition at Platform is the biggest showing of the Glaswegians photographs in 35 years and forms part of the Season of Photography 2026. An opening event takes place on Saturday 19 September from 1pm to 3pm, free and drop-in.
