Watercolour: Brush, Pen and Ink
About
A 12-week Tuesday afternoon watercolour course exploring Samuel Palmer-inspired landscapes using ink, pen texture and layered watercolour techniques.
This 12-week course at Mary Ward Centre's Stratford site is aimed at beginners and those with some watercolour experience. Tutor Joy Girvin leads sessions exploring expressive ink drawing and luminous watercolour layering, inspired by Samuel Palmer's visionary landscapes, with a focus on tonal twilight and night scenes. Teaching combines demonstrations, handouts, one-to-one guidance and group discussion, with practical artwork and group evaluation each week. Some basic materials are provided, though students bring their own watercolour paper, brushes, paints, dip pen and Indian ink.
