Uncanny Knowledge: Unsettling the Architectures of Silencing
About
A free two-day assembly of talks, performances and conversations exploring sound, listening and silence as forces of resistance and collective knowledge-making.
Co-curated by Elham Puriya Mehr and Fereshte Moosavi, this two-day international assembly brings together artists, researchers and communities to examine silencing as an economic, geopolitical and ideological force, and to explore sound, vibration and embodied listening as means of resistance and collective knowledge-making. Day one features curatorial performances and talks by Salomé Voegelin, Golnoosh Heshmati and Salar Mameni (joining online), while day two includes presentations by Irit Rogoff, Ayreen Anastas and René Gabri (online), and Hamid Dabashi (online). Each day closes with an hour-long open conversation moderated by Andrew Goffey of the University of Nottingham. The event takes place in The Space and is wheelchair accessible.
