1525: Pocket Altars - Ritual as Practice with Wingshan
About
Artist and witch Wingshan leads a workshop for 15-25 year olds making portable personal altars using painting, stitching, herbs and found materials.
Taking inspiration from Sarah Cunningham's paintings and their connections with landscape and the natural world, Nottingham-based artist and witch Wingshan leads a gentle workshop exploring ritual as artistic practice. Participants work with pre-made padded textile altars, using painting, hand-stitching, herbs, fabric and small found materials to create a portable personal altar. The session opens up ideas around seasons, elements, animism and cyclical change, with no previous painting or sewing experience needed. The event is aimed at 15-25 year olds and held in the wheelchair-accessible Studio 2.
