About
A beginner-friendly morning workshop weaving a belt on a backstrap loom with natural fibres inside Butser Ancient Farm's Iron Age roundhouse.
Heritage educator Kat Wootton leads this hands-on workshop on setting up a simple backstrap loom with a rigid heddle. Participants learn about warp and weft threads, the shuttle and some textiles history while weaving a belt from natural fibres. The session runs 10am to 1pm in the farm's giant roundhouse, with time afterwards to explore the site; tickets include farm entrance, tuition and all tools and materials. Suitable for beginners, aged 16+ (or 14+ with an adult).
